City Council Vote: U.S. Liberty No Business of Coos Bay, Oregon

On Tuesday September 17th 2013, the Mayor and City Council of Coos Bay, Oregon unanimously voted down a resolution not only condemning, but committing city officials to prevent, the possibility of indefinite military detention without trial (on mere suspicion of terrorist affiliations) opened up for Coos Bay residents by the federal government’s passage of the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act.

Nevada Republican Party Passes Anti-NDAA Resolution, Calls on State to Intervene

LAS VEGAS – We are pleased to report the the Republican Party of Nevada passed a “Resolution Affirming The Right Of Due Process Of The People,” opposing the detention provisions in the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) at their state convention over the weekend. Resolution G109 condemns the 2012 NDAA, and the law of war, and even calls on the state legislature to take steps to block the aforementioned from being applied in their state.

Justice Department Asks Supreme Court to Throw Out NDAA Lawsuit

A few days ago, the United States Justice Department submitted its brief in Hedges v. Obama, a suit challenging Section 1021 (b) of the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act. In it, they argue the Court should dismiss Hedges for lack of standing.

Oops, I Voted for Liberty: Gem County, ID Defeats NDAA 2-1

In a vote of 2-1, the Gem County, Idaho Commission voted to prohibit the application of the laws of war, including under the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force, and any similar law or authority, in Gem County. One commissioner, even, did it on accident.

Korn, Conrad the Constitution, Stand up to the NDAA

In the past two weeks, two popular figures have come out against the detention provisions of the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act. Conrad the Constitution, an animated series, and rock icon Korn, have both been speaking out against the 2012 NDAA in recent videos. Several smaller artists have also released songs attempting to raise awareness of the law.
