Giving the President of the United States, or anyone else, this kind of authority over American citizens was something that the framers of the U. S. Constitution, and, specifically, the Bill of Rights, were trying to prohibit. Yet it appears that this law is doing what the founders of our country feared.
Has our rights to a fair trial & to face our accuser been forfeited due to the NDAA? Didn’t Ben Franklin warn us about sacrificing our freedoms for security because in the end we lose both?
Though putting up a great fight and coming close to winning, the Constitution took a painful blow, when the Smith-Amash-Gibson Amendment, which would have ended the fight against the tyrannical provisions in the 2012 NDAA, failed in the House on June 13 with a vote of 226-200.
